In early adulthood, ADHD may be associated with depression, mood or conduct disorders and substance abuse. I work to aid in diagnosis, to skill management and collaborating with prescription providers if needed.
It is not unusual for autistic individuals to have reached adulthood without a diagnosis. Autism is a neuro-developmental condition that affects how the brain processes information and can impact emotional connection to others. I work to provide assistance in diagnosis, to skill management and encouragement around emotional responsing.
I provide assessments in depression, anxiety, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and am trained in working and assessing those with adult ADHD and potential markers for adult ASD. ADHD assessments are typically 75-90-minute sessions and include a brief assessment, interview, and additional paperwork.
New careers and changes in career are ever-present in today's world. I work to assist individuals in discovering their life's purpose and intention. I offer a series of tests and questionnaires to aid in finding the right career path/purpose.
Through a psychodynamic, parts of self work and an attachment lens, I work with individuals who experience disordered eating to understand and heal emotional drivers. I partner with additional providers (dietician, psychiatrist) to maximize therapeutic treatment.
Grief and loss are an unfortunate part of life and one that we all experience. From the loss of a friend or intimate partner who has moved on or a child leaving the nest, to the grief of losing a loved one, I work with individuals through a compassionate, grounding focus to process and heal the space left within.
Life stage transitions such as moving, starting university or school, starting a new job or launching a new career, adjusting to a chronic illness can be challenging to manage and balance. I work with individuals through an empathic space to find strength through these intense growth/change periods in one's life.
Understanding what a personality order is and how it has impacted oneself in a family system is essential to the healing process. Patterns in one's life from work life to intimate relationships can emerge as a result of being raised by a personality disordered individual. I work with individuals who have removed themselves from these toxic relationships, so they move forward are able to recognize the traits in others with this disorder and find ways to heal from these highly difficult and complex individuals.
PTSD and C-PTSD are developed through witnessing or being a part of a shocking, dangerous, or scary event. Through a trauma-informed lens, I work with individuals providing psycho-education, memory desensitization and re-processing through EMDR as well as Gestalt theory techniques and Somatic movement to provide a safe, empathic space to process and heal past trauma.
Substance use is often comorbid with other diagnoses. Through a strong therapeutic alliance and transparency, I work with individuals to provide psychoeducation, skill management and partner with additional mental health providers to manage through the complexities of the dual diagnosis.
The physical body provides tremendous insight as to how and what we feel emotionally and mentally. Through consistent check-ins on the health of the body from sleep, nutrition, exercise, and hormonal disturbances, I work to provide psychoeducation around ways to understand how and why our body reacts the way it does and how the physical body can provide clues as to what you are feeling/experiencing internally.
